June 8: Land in Manchester/Travel to Carlisle (People-watching)

We landed in Manchester at 8:55 am local time, and walked down the stairs of the plane. As soon as I walked through the door it was cold, wet, and windy. It had just stopped raining and the sun was shining down on the runway making it glisten. I had heard how rainy the UK could be, and in this moment it really lived up to the expectation. We boarded the shuttle waiting for us and rode to the place where customs was set up. After passing through customs and using the restroom, we met up with our tour guide Peter. He told us that we had to wait for the other group to land, which took another hour and a half. Once they were landed we headed to our coach and started traveling to Carlisle. We stopped a few minutes from the airport at the Manchester United stadium, then got back on the road. I fell asleep as soon as we got on the road and woke up at a beach. Across the street there was a festival going on, with loud music and people everywhere. We walked through the stalls then walked across the street to take pictures in front of the ocean. After we headed back to the coach and got back on the road. We arrived in Carlisle after about 3 hours of driving from he airport, and checked into the hotel. I was rooming with Kennedy and Olivia, and we soon found out that our room was basically on the other side of town. We had to go through many halls and up and down many stairs to find our secluded room. It was huge, a queen and twin bed, and a full size bathroom attached. After settling and unpacking, we headed down to eat dinner in the hotel. After we played UNO in our room and headed to bed to prepare ourselves for the packed day ahead.
